What kind of a day are you going to have today?  If asked this question first thing in the morning, many of us might respond, “I hope it’s a good day but we’ll see how things go.”  Yet God suggests a different response from us.

In Psalm 18:24 David writes, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice & be glad in it.”  Then in Philippians 4:4 Paul writes, “Rejoice in the Lord always.  Again I will say, rejoice!”  Both of these men faced great stress & pressure as they served God, but they knew a truth that is repeated throughout the Bible: The day we’re living in doesn’t determine our level of joy.  Instead, we determine the level of joy we will live in today.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord, you have a personal relationship with God & you can enter every day with joy, strength, & a high expectation of what God is going to do in & through you.  You can live above the circumstances & trials that come your way.  You can choose to smile & be an encouragement to others.  Don’t let the circumstances that come your way today decide how your life will be.  Choose to make today a great day!
