Marriage.  It’s the most important and intimate relationship any of us can have with another human being.  Someone once said marriage can be the closest thing to heaven on earth or the closest thing to hell on earth, and sometimes it can be both on the same day!  Those of us that are married have probably found this to be true.

All married couples face relationship challenges at times.  When married life becomes difficult, there are three keys that will help get us back on the road to unity.  First, get rid of pride and humble yourself.  This may include forgiving your spouse, admitting that you were wrong, and/or approaching your spouse in gentleness instead of anger.  Second, communicate.  Many arguments are simply the result of a lack of communication.  Keep in mind that communication includes talking and listening.  Finally, remember that you and your spouse are not alone.  God is right there to help you through difficult times if you’ll simply ask for His help and then be open to His guidance.

God values marriage.  The Bible tells us that the marriage relationship is the only human relationship that is comparable to Christ and His church (see Ephesians 5:22-33).  If you’ll take the time to learn what God says about marriage and view your spouse as the most important person on earth to you, you can take steps toward having a more fulfilling marriage relationship that will reflect how good our God is!
